Procalcitonin Serum Level in the Admitted COVID-19 Patients

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging that has affected the world and requires extensive studies. Studies have shown high procalcitonin (PCT) level associated with severity of many diseases, such as bacterial endocarditis, pancreatitis, pyelonephritis, enterocolitis, even appendicitis. This study aimed to evaluate serum PCT levels in COVID-19 patients admitted hospitals northern Iran. Methods: cross-sectional descriptive-analytical was conducted Boo-Ali Sina Imam Khomeini hospitals, Mazandaran Province, north A questionnaire consisting demographic characterization filled out for every patient. Results some laboratories clinical manifestations disorder were extracted from their records. Results: total 103 (53 male 50 female) included study. Our patients’ mean 0.18±0.024 ng/mL. Significant relationships existed between age (P=0.025) short-term prognosis (P=0.044). Conclusion: The significantly level, which indicates increasing worsen prognosis. Therefore, may help determine predict patients.
